Yoga Not Just Stretching

While on the way to recognize a friend at the local YMCA, he asked why I did not just join the gym and I explained that I practice yoga and gymnastics occasional home to my exercises and not really found the need for a gym membership. His response was predictable: "... Yoga is not just stretch? "

I smiled at the knowledge of the issue and proceeded to explain the theme of this article. When I told him, and for those who do not know another way: No, Yoga is much more than just stretching or alleged research into awkward postures and positions.

It is a combination of stretching, breathing exercises, meditation, and perhaps the most forgotten part of its commitment to a proper diet.

The word yoga, the Sanskrit word meaning yoke or bind yuj and is often interpreted as "union" or a method of discipline. Its ultimate goal is union with God or the universe in one breath. It also aims to free the mind and the mind and spirit are also involved in its practice.

Yoga is certainly the most ancient system of physical culture in the world. Besides being a systematic and scientifically proven to achieve physical fitness, slows aging, regenerates and improves its appearance, maintaining flexibility and increases the vitality and the creative side of life.

With its core warm-up exercises known as sun salutations (which is somewhat similar to gymnastics exercise) represents the inversion, forward and backward bending shape, balance exercises for weapons and build discussion, the average practitioner will attest to the fact that to achieve fitness, yoga can stand alone.

Think yoga can not help build strength? Think again. Heck, I challenge the most skilled body-builder to keep it simple but powerful Peacock still for 90 seconds straight. I bet you they would go halfway through his performance, if they do so far.

Yoga is a unique breathing exercises that are wonderful for patients with respiratory diseases, as well as singers and speakers, in addition to its unique relaxation causes, often practiced during and after its implementation, Yoga offers a systematic way of deeply relaxing the whole the body can be like any other exercise can. (Remember, of course, that a number of reasons to give a deep massage is different from the salons of them ... I thought I'd throw that in.)

With a myriad of books, DVDs, videos and courses are offered for all ages, skill levels and experience (some of them are actually free for the first lessons to try yoga out), I suggests to try it and see for yourself what it can do.

One thing I promise you this, you can get out of class, and NOD think that in reality, "Yoga is much more than just stretching." This is a sport.
